TCP Optimizer
To optimize performance on CB Ethernet, Charter Business recommends that Maximum
Segment Size (MSS) and Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) be set to the recommended
levels on customer equipment. The recommended settings are: Maximum Segment
Size (MSS) is set to 1420 with a Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) of 1460 bytes
on copper based 10/100 UNI LAN ports. Fragmentation must be handled through standard TCP negotiations or by
the application at the end stations.
TCP Optimizer
Please download and run TCP Optimizer from the following link:
http://www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe
- Click Custom (bottom right)
- Change Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) to 1460 - this will automatically adjust
the Maximum Segement Size
- Make sure MTU Discovery is set to YES
- Apply Changes and restart your computer
TCP Optimizer – restore to Windows Default Settings
In a case you need to revert changes made on the first page to Windows Default Settings
click
- File/Restore Windows Default Settings
TCP Optimizer – restore backup settings
If you need to revert changes made on the first page to backed up settings please
open TCP Optimizer again and click:
- File/Restore backed up settings
- And then choose the backup file that TCP Optmizer automatically made when you first
ran it. You will find the backup file in the same directory where your TCP Optmizer
is downloaded.
