Charter Business® Optical Ethernet
Reliable, Affordable Metro and Long Haul Optical Ethernet Service
Charter Business Optical Ethernet service offers reliable, ultra-fast Layer 2 WAN
connectivity with speeds ranging from 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps, in 10 Mbps increments.
Choose between point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, or multipoint-to-multipoint
(any to any) network configurations between two or more sites, with the ability
to add locations or bandwidth as your business grows.
WHAT YOU GET
- ONLY PAY FOR THE BANDWIDTH YOU NEED
Unlike traditional switched services that require you to upgrade from 1.5Mbps to
45Mbps with nothing in between, Charter Business Optical Ethernet allows you to
scale your bandwidth in 10Mbps increments so you only pay for the bandwidth you
need.
- METRO AND LONG-HAUL CONNECTIVITY
The Charter Business Optical Ethernet Service allows you to link business locations
within a metro area as well as offices dispersed across the country. Metro connectivity
is available for all network configurations while long-haul* connectivity is available
for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint configurations.
- HIGH SPEED SERVICE AND PERFORMANCE
The service is ideal for supporting today's business technologies, including IP
telephony, imaging, secure large file transfer, and TV services. Because the service
is delivered via a direct optical connection, we offer a robust high-speed service
at a price that fits your budget.
- A DEDICATED FIBER CONNECTION
Charter Business Optical Ethernet offers a reliable, dedicated fiber connection.
We can work with you to set up redundant connectivity to further assure uptime.
We also preserve your settings over our network, ensuring that traffic from different
users is securely separated and uniquely identified. To back up the service, the
Charter Business Network Operations Center staff proactively monitors our fiber-optic
network's performance around the clock; and our U.S.-based technicians, located
in communities across the country, are there to quickly respond to any issues that
may arise.
- RELIABLE SERVICE FROM A PROVEN COMPANY
Charter Business Ethernet service is built for reliability and configured to meet
the quality-of service benchmarks ratified by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) industry
group to provide carrier-class Ethernet performance. The MEF is a global industry
alliance created to develop technical specifications and implementation agreements
to promote interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet worldwide.
CHOOSE FROM MULTIPLE SERVICE TYPES

rate connection to connect both metro and long haul optical locations. It’s ideal
if you want full control of your network with the simplicity of a point-to-point
connection.
- Ethernet Virtual Private
Line (EVPL)
If you need a point to multipoint connection to link a central headquarters or data
center to multiple offices, your best option is Ethernet Virtual Private Line service
(EVPL).
- Ethernet LAN (E-LAN)
The multipoint-to-multipoint Ethernet LAN (E-LAN) service offers the ultimate in
flexibility, connecting all locations to create a secure, shared-data network.
